Peridot was so desperate to make Lapis feel comfortable and happy with her “new home” that when she told her to leave, she actually left. Legit, she didn’t even hesitate, she just sighed and walked away. She assumed that that would make Lapis feel okay since she understands how she feels, she would’ve liked the same treatment so she obeyed Lapis’ order.

If it weren’t for that freacking red eye with them rubies, Peridot would’ve never come back and if she did…well Steven would have to look for her and convince her that there has to be another way to make her feel good. But no. FOR FUCK’S SAKE EVERYBODY Peri even gave her her freacking beloved tape recorder, if you’re telling me that you liked that old bad ass Peridot from before then I think you’re wrong.

Everyone making fun of her dumb “character and personality” change but she has become a mature and reasonable gem now. She wanted to understand, AND SHE UNDERSTOOD. She understood that if her absence were to make Lapis happy, then so be it.
